I’m loving ... the internet as my style guide

It’s probably something I shouldn’t admit to doing but I’ll tell you anyway - I’m a total style thief!
At first I was a little bit ashamed but now I’m coming to terms with it.
Basically, I have been known to trawl the internet in search of new, quirky ways of dressing.
But wait! Don’t judge me! I’m not a total weirdo!
If you think about it, its nothing new - we all flick through magazines and I bet all of us at one point have put together an outfit because we saw it looking so damn good on someone else, whether it’s a celebrity or someone who served us in a shop!
So one day, while bored out of my skull, nosily looking at friends of friends on myspace, I started checking out what people were wearing. I started nosing through the profiles of people whose clothes really stood out and before I knew it I was jotting down ideas for outfits and sketching out mannequins!
In my defence, it wasn’t like I was messaging people asking where they’d got their top, and I’d like to reiterate at this point that I’m not a net stalker! But I figure everyone has to get inspiration from somewhere and why bother going out spending money on magazines, feeling depressed at the sight of stick-thin models when you can sit on your laptop and check out what ‘real’ people are wearing?
And, if it wasn’t for my newfound habit, I wouldn’t have stumbled across this amazing website - thecobrasnake.com.
I don’t know too much about it and I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be more of a meaningful art/photography website than a place for me to check out what everyone’s wearing! But it’s absolutely brilliant if you’re into your street fashion and anyone who envies the style of the cast of Skins will love it.
So instead of turning to fashion magazines and celebrities for style ideas, why not get surfing and find some style icons of your own? Who knows, you could even be one of them to someone else!
