Spring/Summer ‘10 trends for the modern day business woman - how to look more stylish at work.

We all want to be on the ball when it comes to the latest trends and how to incorporate them into our everyday look. There are a number of exciting styles emerging this Spring/Summer ‘10 for you to work into your professional wardrobe.

Number Crunching Nudes
Nudes have been big news on the catwalk, with designers Stella McCartney, Fendi, Alberta Ferretti and Burberry Prorsum all showcasing them in their collections. Nudes are incredibly versatile and easily incorporated into your workwear wardrobe, whether it’s with a lighter coloured suit jacket, skirt, a classic tailored dress or a simple nude top. For the brave a full nude suit can be worn. For those who’d rather test the water, combining a nude top or jacket should be enough to keep you on trend.

Professional Prints
At the opposite end of the fashion spectrum, another trend set to break out this season is bold graphic prints. When bringing this look to your work wardrobe, concentrate on one eye-catching key piece so you’re not overpowered by the look. For example, a bold print top or skirt, or a graphic print dress with very simple accessories should do the trick. For a more subtle approach, a simple scarf or necklace will showcase the look and make you stand out from the crowd.

Military Meeting
Military is back. Taking on a more sophisticated approach this season the look focuses on classic tailoring, structuring and clean cut lines as showcased by Balmain and Marc Jacobs. Military coats, jackets and trousers with military detail will keep you on trend as well as looking smart and tailored, perfect for the office.

Perfect Pastel Shades
Perfect for spring are the pastel shades that have been appearing all over this season’s catwalk. These shades provide the perfect opportunity to add a subtle splash of colour to your work wardrobe. These ice cream colours are ultra feminine and will soften a tailored trouser suit.

Understated Utility
Many of these seasons’ shows have embraced the subtly chic look that is utility. This look was prominent in Chloe’s spring/summer catwalk. This look focuses on clean simple lines cuts and colours, making utility pieces incredibly versatile, easy to wear and most importantly practical. They can also easily transfer from work to weekend.

Flattering Florals
Florals and spring go hand in hand and there are plenty of them around this season as shown by the likes of Erdem. Florals are the perfect way to add a soft and feminine dynamic to your work wardrobe. For the more petite frame opt for a delicate pattern or curvy figures can carry off a bigger pattern.

Tribal Training
Tribal prints are perfect for a strong look for this summer. A case in point was Diane Von Furstenberg’s spring/summer catwalk which was full of vivid, eye catching tribal inspired pieces. Tribal prints are bold and bright and definitely a trend to keep an eye on this season. Keep focus on one key piece of tribal print to add a bold edge to your work outfits.

Secretary Shorts
Finally a trend that is set to big news is shorts, which have been seen on numerous catwalks this spring/ summer including Jil Sander, Chloe and Miu Miu. A tailored pair of shorts will add a perfect summery edge to your work wardrobe when pieced with a loosely tailored jacket and crisp shirt.
