It’s amazing to think that Gap has been around for 40 years! Although Bargainistas these days might choose the likes of Topshop, Miss Selfridge and H&M for on trend runway copies over this well-known brand, Gap has stood its ground producing great denim, laid back and casual clothing.
It was 40 years ago that Doris and Dan Fisher opened their first Gap store in San Francisco and to celebrate, Gap is launching the gap1969 Denim Concept Store just off Carnaby Street for a limited time only – 19 days and 69 hours to be exact! So, prepare yourselves this must-see event!

The store will be home to three floors that will showcase an extensive range of Gap’s iconic denim styles, specially produced in uniquely engineered washes. Limited Edition pieces will also be featured in store, but you’d better hurry to get your hands on your favourite styles, as only 69 pairs of each style will be available which are individually stamped and numbered.
I’ve been going to Gap since I was knee high to a grasshopper and I’m super excited about the opening day of the gap1969 concept store, as they are offering the opportunity to purchase a limited edition pair of Gap rinsed jeans in your favourite Gap fit for an amazing price of just £19.69 – notice that’s the year that the first Gap store was opened! We like this little detail! Plus half the profits from all jeans sold will go towards the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

Bespoke denim pieces will also be stocked from designers Pierre Hardy and Albertus Swanepoel so waste no time in scooping up only what you deserve! Hardy has worked his magic on Gap’s new season ankle boot making it an unwashed indigo, whilst Swanepoel has designed a black felt wool riding hat with denim peak.
The store will also showcase work from illustrator and photographer Garance Dore and will also host the European launch of Pharrell William’s new Bionic Gap Collection which has re-defined classic Gap styles that presents a capsule wardrobe of khakis, white tee, grey marl hoodie and white tennis shoes. And if anything like Pharell himself these pieces will be ever sooooo cute!

The adorable Pharell with his Gap goddesses!
A selection of breakthrough artists will be there to get you in the shopping mood (I’m not going to lie – I’m always in the mood to shop!), with live acoustic sets. Please form an orderly queue as VV Brown kicks off the sessions performing at gap1969 on the opening night followed by Taio Cruz on Friday. Be part of this denim frenzy and head on over to Carnaby Street, London on 10th Sept – 5th Oct 2009. See you there!
