Fashion and ‘a great cause’ were brought together on Sunday 20th September at Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label Spring/Summer Collection at London Fashion Week.  The show was dedicated to raising awareness of climate change as part of The Prince’s Rainforests Project.

The frog was the theme of the show which is the symbol of rainforests and ambassador for the rainforests project.  The models showcased quirky frog accessories alongside Westwood’s gorgeous clothes, which I think had a great impact!  She also designed a fibreglass 70cm tall frog that had been created and decorated by her studio team.  The design, which appeared in her Red Label Catwalk Show, featured hand-prints to demonstrate that we all have a role to play to help tackle climate change.  This was definitely one show I would have loved to have attended as I absolutely adore Vivienne Westwood’s clothes.  More designers should get involved with worldwide issues, or at least make their followers more aware, as it is a great way to make people take action.

Thousands of people have already added their name to the Prince’s Rainforests Project call for action on climate change at www.rainforestSOS.org. We think Vivienne Westwood is an out-spoken advocate of The Prince’s Rainforests Project and at Sunday’s show she even asked everyone who attended to give their name to show the world’s leaders gathering in Copenhagen for crucial climate change talks this December that they must take action and that there is a public will for them to do so.
